Soundtrack-less Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne now shipping

smt.jpgPersona 3 initiates now if your chance to chance to get pick it up Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne without breaking the bank. New copies are on the market and they are cheaper than the original manufacturer retail price. Play-Asia is selling them for just $44.90, way less than Gamestop’s “used” price. According to the import retailer this is an official reprint and it lacks the soundtrack bundled with the first run. At some point Atlus was selling these on their official store, but the supply vanished ages ago.

I find it amusing that the cheapest place to buy Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne thus far is overseas, but a steal is a steal. Too bad the Atlus store isn’t open anymore.

  • Wow, so this is definitely the English-language edition? I’ve been trying to find a copy for ages.

  • @jeffk – Yeah, it’s the NA version localized by Atlus. Get it before the “limited supply” runs dry. :)

Mine shipped today; ordered it a couple days ago. :) $15 cheaper than Gamestop’s $60 for used.

  • QBasic

I should most likely mention this, and it would make a good story if I still wrote here…haha.

Today I was actually visiting my local gamestop, and found one of their used copies. Unfortunately, some poor sucker comes by to pick it up. I had my suspicions, so I just shrugged it off. Felt good for the guy too; he was getting a damn good game.

So, later in the day when I was well…bored, I decide to stop by the same gamestop…and presto…*another* “used” copy of Nocturne was sitting on the shelf for $60.

Kinda degreding that they’re opening them up, then selling them for jacked up “used” prices, ya?

sooo…are we going to see this on Amazon Spencer? I mean, if you happen to know. I’ve been wanting this game since the day it came out. (I didn’t have a PS2 back then) Let me know as soon as it does if you can. It would be much appreciated.

  • @Mr. Mee – Actually someone is selling new copies on Amazon, but they are $60 instead of Play-Asia’s $44.99 price. If you get the cheapest shipping Play-Asia is really the cheapest place to get SMT: Nocturne.

  • Pike

Qbasic – When persona 2 was reprinted they did the same thing and opened the package and sold it as new. Oh well at least more people can play the game. I should pick up my own copy. :P

No soundtrack no purchase… purchased the pal version (named lucifer’s call) instead, new and for a cheaper price though, so I ended up purchasing it.

shame for no soundtrack, the game seems to be pretty good though; I’m enjoying it.

  • A side note about the Gamestop thing, I work at at a GS, and the used price for Nocturne went to $40 today. We didn’t get any of the reprints though, so looks like I’ll be going the way of Play-Asia for this one.
