While we’re on the topic of the Minna no Nintendo channel the Japanese counterpart has a new game from the 2007 Nintendo Game Seminar. Kiki Master (kiki is in katakana, but the title means Crisis Master) has players help residents with the power of words. Yes, it sounds strange, but Kiki Master is pretty creative.

Let’s take a look at the first episode Uchikita Mojio Moji Moji Shita Shonen Chotto Kimoi. “Moji moji” is Japanese onomatopoeia for nervous twitching. As you can see, Kiki Master is language intensive. The story is about a shy boy bolstering his courage to confess his love to a girl. We’re going to help him.

"Huh? Kiki Master?" What does a crisis master do? Well, the boy talks out his problem and you can “burst” conversation bubbles by tapping them on the touch screen or drag them on top of him to provoke a thought. Bursting negative thoughts increases the boy’s confidence, but you have to quickly decide whether what he is saying is helpful to winning the heart of the young girl. The bubbles don’t just sit there waiting to be poked, but you don't need Ouendan-like reflexes to play the game.

While you’re mostly reflecting ideas back at the boy he occasionally stops to ask for your opinion. In this frame he is asking how he should talk to the girl. Should he do it with romantic intentions, alter his feelings or forget the idea?

Look how confident the boy is now!

He’s meeting the girl…

… but the outcome changes depending how your conversation flows. If you give him different ideas you unlock the boxes and the boy will change his “game”. There are multiple endings to each episode too.

I only finished one episode, but the second episode has you aiding a ghost
