Dual screen battles destroy players in World Destruction

wdes.jpgSummer is a time for sunshine and in Japan the end of the world. World Destruction has become notable for its plot, the player causing “world destruction” other than saving it, and the collaboration with some ex-Xenogears staff.

That’s really not much, but this set of screenshots is a pretty good look at the characters. Kyrie, the male protagonist, is teamed up with Morte (symbolism alert?), the female protagonist, and a walking teddy bear bounty hunter named Toppy.

The neatest concrete detail revealed so far about World Destruction is the battle system. The combat system stretches monsters on to two screens. The serpent-like creature Kyrie is slashing looks mammoth in scale, which is sort of a throwback to larger than life bosses.

World Destruction was actually hinted at last year, but that was before it had a title. Remember how Image Epoch (Lumionus Arc) put up some concept art for Project Salamander? World Destruction is Project Salamander. We still don’t know what Project Ray is though.

ex-Xenogears staff are making me worried but if some of Sega’s old RPG designers are supervising the game I have hope for this, just a touch from Skies of Arcadia people will make this game better :)

Chris Dahlberg Says:

That sounds awesome and I like the look of the screenshot.

Is it dated for Japan yet, from your post it sounds early on in development.

jeffx Says:

WOW that looks fantastic, with a turn system à la Grandia, maybe?

Aoshi00 Says:

The premise sounds cool, I want to get this game just because the ex-Xenogears people are making it, and Mitsuda for music, sweet.. Battle looks like turn-based, give us more 2 screen tall giant bosses :)

Pedro Silva Says:

hopefully the Skies of Arcadia guys are busy with Skies of Arcadia wii. This seems good though.

Micah Says:

Teddy bear bounty hunter? I MUST OWN THIS GAME.
