Battle Fantasia demo magically appears on the PlayStation Store

bdemo.jpgSince we’re on the topic of fighting games, Arc System Works released a fighting game with a fantasy setting in arcades last year. Despite being 2.5D and running Taito Type X2 hardware Battle Fantasia didn’t get much media attention.

Since the arcade version was only released in Japan most people reading Siliconera probably haven’t played it, but now you can with the help of a Japanese PlayStation Network account. Arc System Works uploaded a trial version of Battle Fantasia for PlayStation 3 owners that have access to the Japanese PlayStation Store.

There is an Xbox 360 version of Battle Fantasia in development too, but at this time a demo is not ready for Microsoft’s console. However, one is likely to appear at a later date. I doubt Arc System Works will back down on releasing a demo for 360 owners since they distributed one for Guilty Gear II.

The newest EGM mentions that Battle Fantasia will be released in the US as well. Check the Quarter Mann section!

nice, thanks for the heads up. i only check the japanese store every so often. i have been thinking about ordering this from play-asia.

hey Aoshi, just fyi, gta iv ntsc-u/c is a no-go on my ntsc-j system. i hope i saved you a buck with that info since play-asia still have a question mark up.

Aoshi00 Says:

@thaKingRocka - Thanks man, I was wondering whether to get GTA IV on the 360 or PS3, I guess it has to be the latter then. I actually found out this bit myself too, forgot where I read it from. I almost forgot the game was out until I dropped by Gamestop across Manhattan Mall during lunch yesterday and saw a huge line.

thaKingRocka Says:

well, there was a lot of info posted about it being region locked for pal vs. ntsc users, but there remains no official word on the ntsc-j. i borrowed it from a friend up the block to test on my jp system and was met with the region code error. across manhattan mall? that’s funny. i work in the empire state building. maybe i should have supported the forum notion now that i’m using the site as one.

back on topic-
battle fantasia is pretty cool. i just got through playing about 10 matches. i’ll definitely pick this one up for whatever system. maybe if i’m lucky, the 360 version will be region free and i can support the US 2d fighter market. chances are slim though.
