Mini games spliced into Samurai Shodown Anthology

A Samurai Shodown party on the Wii? Maybe. SNK is giving Wii owners of Samurai Shodown Anthology a few remote controlled mini games to play. However, you won’t be slashing enemies with the Wii remote. SNK’s mini games give players control over some of the animal characters like Mamahaha (Nakoruru’s hawk), Shikuru (Rera’s wolf), Chample (Majikina Mina’s fluffy friend) and Poppy (Galford’s dog in the picture).

While PlayStation 2 owners miss out on mini-games they get online play, which will probably be removed when Samurai Shodown Anthology comes out in North America this year. Other additions for both versions include a practice mode and character color editing.

New features are always a plus, but the real reason to get Samurai Spirits Rokuban Shoubu as it’s called in Japan is six Samurai Showdown games  I – VI and V Special. The Japanese release will not include V Special/Zero, but SNK USA has it as part of the US collection.. If you can’t wait until SNK Playmore releases Samurai Shodown Anthology later this year you can import Samurai Spirits Rokuban Shoubu on July 24.

I remember playing this game years ago with my college roommate. We always cracked up about the VICTOLY! screen.

Hmm… this stinks. I was planning on importing the ps2 version, but I really want to try those mini-games. Unfortunately I can’t import wii games at the moment, so I’m worried about SNK releasing the censored versions of the samurai shodown games.

Carmen Says:

Err, I just really don’t want to see Tenkaichi on this collection. As far as I’m concerned the Pocket games are more SS then friggin’ Tenka.

Besides that it looks nice :)

Kurt Says:

What worries me is that the anthology is rated B by CERO. Could they be removing some of the blood? Also, they don’t mention V (Zero) Special on the site…that may not be in the collection, which kinda sucks.

Spencer Says:

@Kurt - Ah you’re right about the CERO B rating I wasn’t thinking about it but Zero was CERO C. Maybe that’s why it’s out of the collection? SNK USA had V Special on their list, which as you point out has been removed on the Japanese release.

Carmen Says:

Well, Amakasu Kourin is about as violent as 0 Sp so it may have more to do then just the violence. I remember reading SNK-P wanting to keep 0 Special exclusive to the Neo as its final game.

I say just support the darn series. I’m happy that SNK is even giving my favourite franchise a fighting chance. If they make this version with online play….I’d say, that would be an incrediable experience. VICTOLY!!!!
