Even killer ninjas like to play dress up

Microsoft is pushing Ninja Gaiden II with virtual goods, namely the pictured Dark Fiend costume above. This promotional item will be given out exclusively to selected countries (note: no countries have been announced) and is limited to 39,000 units on launch day. No details have been announced, but it sounds like some people will get the costume as pre-order bonus.

Don’t worry if you miss out of the Dark Fiend costume because there are plans for plenty of outfits for Ryu Hayabusa. Staring in July costume packs with new styles for Ryu will appear on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Each one costs 200 Microsoft Points ($2.50).

I wouldn’t be shocked at all to hear Microsoft announce some kind of costume related to the Halo universe in the coming weeks. I am shocked to see Ryu have time to change his clothes purely for cosmetic value during demon slaying acrobatics.

That picture reminds me of the cover for Super Hydlide on the Sega Mega Drive.

with all the alternate costumes in ninja gaiden for xbox, i never liked a single one of them. i had my fill of the blue cloth suit in the intro. all of the others looked miserable to me. sadly, i doubt i will like any of the costumes they release for this one.
