Jigsaw World’s puzzling release date

jgs.jpgNippon Ichi is taking a huge leap onto the Nintendo DS in June with two games Disgaea DS and Jigsaw World: Daigekitou! Jig Battle Heroes (note: Daigekitou is something like big fierce fight). Instead of spacing out the two titles both of them are scheduled to arrive in Japan on the same day, June 26.

Etna serves as a link between the two games since she has a cameo in Jigsaw World. However, Disgaea DS (aka Makai Senki Disgaea: Makai no Ouji to Akai Tsuki) is bound to get more attention than a blend of puzzle piece dragging and platform fighting. The only reason I can imagine why Nippon Ichi opted for the dual release is to capture consumers walking in to pick up Disgaea DS. Perhaps their train of thought is gamers in Japan will think, “hey, this is that other game from Nippon Ichi, I support their titles so I should buy Jigsaw World too.”

If you to pick between the two which would you spend your money on?

Any game with a hybrid cat / walking loaf of bread character gets my attention.

Dr. Slump Says:

I played the PS2 Disgaea, so I have no interest in the DS version.

I don’t know enough about the puzzle-piece game to have any opinion on it.

Nippon Ichi started out making these jigsaw and mahjong games, so they’re trying to build more attention around them by placing them with the popular titles it seems.

That said, I kind of want to play them, too.
