Sunsoft rises again with a Neo Geo Collection

SNK is capitalizing on their past by releasing collections for everything. However, Galaxy Fight: Universal Warriors and Waku Waku 7 aren’t internal SNK games. They were created by Sunsoft.

On June 26, the Neo Geo ROMs for these Sunsoft created games will be bundled together as a PlayStation 2 release entitled Neo Geo Online Collection: Sunsoft Collection. Two games is a light collection, but like many other SNK Playmore bundles the Sunsoft Collection has online play. Other staples like a practice mode and color edit mode will be included. However, I think this release is going to get overshadowed by The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match, which is scheduled to come out the same day.

The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match will get a North American release, but SNK hasn't said anything about Sunsoft Collection. Take that into account if you're considering to plunk down 5,040 yen ($49) on an import fighting game in June.

What I’d like to see, I think, is SNK license these and put them on a “SNK Arcade Classics Volume 2″ release…would seem to be a better choice than a separate release, since I’d imagine most people will have barely/never heard of these…
