Ticket to Ride cruises to Xbox Live Arcade

One thing that has always surprised me about Xbox Live Arcade is the sheer number of digital board games on the platform. I’m not talking about party games, which are merely a pretext for mini games. The Xbox 360 has actual board games, complicated board games with online play. Most of these aren’t my personal cup of tea, but I always welcome diversity.

Sometime this summer Ticket to Ride will get a digital incarnation with 100% fewer pieces to clean up. The board game appears is inspired by the US rail system where players plan their routes. The Xbox Live version has online play and Xbox Vision support. Might be neat for core board gamers, but I’m not even sure what the rules are to make any kind of personal evaluation.

both catan and carcassone were games that my friend really liked back in college, so i tried them on his recommendation and really liked both. well, i like catan much better, but both are good. there really are some damn fine board games out there, and xbl provides a decent place to play them with friends who spread out all over the country.

I’m excited about this. Bring more of those fun German board games to the 360! Pronto!
