Atlus localizes… a Zoids game?

Yes, it’s true. Atlus is fully utilizing their license as an Xbox 360 developer by localizing Zoids: Alternative. Tomy released the Zoids strategy RPG in Japan last year. We’re going to get it in North America on August 26 under the name Zoids Assault. So, in the three months the Xbox 360 will go from zero strategy RPGs to three with Operation Darkness and Spectral Force 3 preceding Zoids Assault.

Take a look at the US trailer below.

A blurb attached on the YouTube page mentions Zoids Assault has a downloadable content. A quick glance on the Japanese Xbox Live Marketplace has D-Bison, S-Liger and C-Wolf content sold for 40 Microsoft Points (50 cents) a piece.

Clever. Square-Enix doesn’t want to bring over Front Mission 5, so Atlus brings us Zoids.

I love how Atlus is willing to take a chance on games I love but fit such a specific niche that they rarely get localized

i would have preferred an announcement of shikigami, raiden fighters, or battle fantasia. none of the announced atlus 360 titles do anything for me. i buy atlus games with surprising frequency, but there just aren’t many good free agents in the japanese 360 pool.

Cool. I just got into anime, any suggestions for what I should pick up?

I absolutely love Zoids, but I would have rather had its gameplay like Zoids: Battle Legends, instead of this reminiscent of Ogre Battle back on the N64, or some old FF game. But that’s just my personal preference.
