Metal Slug 7 and giant mecha fights

By Spencer . May 16, 2008 . 5:36pm

Whoa! Metal Slug 7 still has some surprises that I didn’t see when I played it. This trailer shows two new slugs, the tethered Slug Tank and my favorite addition, the Slug Gigant. The mammoth slug takes up 4/5ths of the screen and it looks like it was made in a junkyard. At the tail end of the trailer you can see a few frames of the Slug Gigant fighting another junkyard mech with a missile launcher strapped on its back. Check around the 1:55 mark to see it.

Good thing SNK Playmore is alive and kicking.

Wow. That looks amazing. It’s been quite a while since I’ve played a Metal Slug game, so I’m looking forward to it.

I was close at considering Contra, but didn’t take the chance since the Contra series has never captivated me the same was Metal Slug so this will be a must game!

(sigh) I am just sad to see it coming to a portable. As great as it may turn out to be, I will never be able to get over the thought of how much more it would have been on a console. I know arcades are dying even in Japan but I never would have thought it would have gone to the DS.

This looks amazing, I don’t have anything against a good 2D platformer being on a handheld, but I think recently it’s been a burden on my eyes by playing too much DS and PSP recently..

I still haven’t been able to finish Contra 4 even on Normal mode (or was it Easy?), the game’s difficulty is pretty ruthless and frustrating, not to mention the invisible bullets between the two screens.
