Capcom steps back into the VS game with Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes

gatchaman1.jpg It's been years since Capcom crossed over with another company to produce a fighting game, but for those who have been waiting for Capcom to step back into the VS arena, wait no longer. Over at the Shoryuken forums, there's information from the latest issue of Famitsu which unveils Capcom's latest arcade crossover project, this time with Tatsunoko Productions, titled Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes. There's very little information about the game at this point, but what is known is that will come out this winter, and that it's a 2 on 2 tag battle fighter. From the pictures in Famitsu, it seems that Ryu, Chun-Li, and Ken (from Gatchaman, not Street Fighter Ken) will be in the game. Kind of makes me wonder what other Tatsunoko properties will show up in the game, however. Can you imagine Akuma versus Speed Racer? The Lil' Bits versus Servbots? The possibilities boggle the mind. Fighting fans, look forward to this one. Let's just hope it doesn't vanish like Sammy vs Capcom did.

Wait, what?! Sammy vs Capcom appeared to be possible at some point?

Speed’s dad, Pops, was a wrestler so a possible grappler team with Zangief could be in works?
I’m excited just this thinking about it.

hot damn, it’s about time we got another of these. they were never all that great, but i love the artwork and fan service. there’s not all that much in the tatsunoko universe that interests me, but i could become interested after messing around with this fighter. i’m somewhat saddened to see that the screens look to be 4:3 480, but i could be wrong. capcom seem dead set against HD sprites, but i hope i’m wrong.

spridle and chim chim with the mach 5 for assists would make me very happy.

Levi Says:

Capcom had better contribute some lesser used characters to this game. I want something other than the standard SF/Darkstalkers lineup. MORE RIVAL SCHOOLS CHARACTERS, CAPCOM.

scatch Says:

for arcades right? no word on platform?

JKTrix Says:

This better have KARAS in it.

@thaKingRocka: Capcom vs SNK 2 was excellent.

ShinRekka Says:

I said WOW HOLY SHIT. I would never thought that Capcom would come back into the fighting scene again! First SFIV and now another VS game!?! *cries tears of joy*. Bring back Darkstarkers and Rival Schools please….I’m beggin’ ya!

2008 = Revival Year of the Fighter confirmed.

SomeDude Says:

Levi: Screw Rival Schools…

This better have Skullo-freaking-mania in it.

(Although, if it had both, that just might be the only way I’d buy this one.)

Levi Says:

@SomeDude

That’d be nice, yes, but unfortunately Arika still owns all the rights to the original characters they created for the Street Fighter EX games. So I’m afraid Skullomania being in the game is impossible (barring some sort of agreement with Arika, that is).

SomeDude Says:

Levi:

Yeah, I know that Arika holds the rights, but, seriously, Arika hasn’t been up to much lately. You gotta figure they’d enjoy the small shot of cash.

Heiae Says:

If it has Otoya from Karas, I will shit my pants. That would be absolutely amazing.

So glad to hear Capcom’s coming back to the Versus series.

QBasic Says:

The fact that Casshern (old school, not the movie crap) is in makes it already worthwhile.

seiya19 Says:

WOW…AMAZING news…and completely unexpected… I´m glad Capcom has decided to support 2D fighting games once again, and combined with Arc System Works games, Melty Blood, SNK games and some others, it´s really like a revival of the genre. I do wonder why with Tatsunoko and not others…JUMP would have been much better for me…or Guilty Gear (maybe next time ?). Anyway, I´ll take any 2D fighter from Capcom, and I do have a lot of respect for Tatsunoko and care about several anime from them. I also wonder who is developing this one…after all, Arc System Works were in charge Sengoku Basara X, and I thought Capcom didn´t have a 2D fighting developing team at the moment…(SF IV aside)
