Hey you Pikachu? A look at Super Pikachu Brothers

While the Pokemon franchise is immensely popular Nintendo has yet throw any of their cuddly creatures into a proper platformer. However, some pirate company did and created Pka Chu. I got a chance to play the pirate ROM, which is essentially a sprite swap of Super Mario Brothers.

 

 

I guess this yellow thing a squished Pikachu. Is the orange thing Torchic?

 

 

When Pikachu, or Pka Chu drinks the potion…

 

… he looks more like Nintendo’s creation. However, Pikachu doesn’t throw lightning after getting a second power up. He lobs fireballs just like fire flower powered Mario.

 

 

Instead of Bowser a fire-breathing, mecha lizard is waiting inside the castle protecting the “princess”. Very amusing.

 

Like Mario Pikachu is trying to rescue a princess, but as the screenshot explains she’s in another castle.
