Capcom announced Street Fighter IV as an arcade game, but it’s inevitably coming home on consoles. The question has always been which consoles will Street Fighter IV and its ambiguous anatomy be released on? The official Street Fighter IV blog has a teaser post about "big news" coming soon and it looks like Famistu is breaking part of it.

The online edition announced Street Fighter IV will come out for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PCs. The latter is a bit of a surprise, but Capcom has been actively developing PC versions of their popular games like Devil May Cry 4.

No date for any platform has been announced at this time. The whispers of the Nintendo DS version won’t be coming out at the same time, if ever.

Update: Capcom USA sent over an e-mail with the same news. Here's what they have to say about Street Fighter IV in North America.

Big news from Capcom today! We've announced the console versions of Street Fighter IV. The next generation Street Fighter game finally finds a home on Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 system and Windows-based PC. Now you can join in on the non-stop breathtaking fighting game with all your favorite Street Fighter characters. Street Fighter IV brings a brand new fighting game to fans the world over. With the inclusion of Capcom's latest advancements in new generation technology, Street Fighter IV promises to deliver an extraordinary experience that will re-introduce the world to the time-honored art of virtual martial arts.

I am calling 2009. I have a hard time believing they will bring it out this year. Sadly, while 2008 is the year of fighters in the arcade, it don't appear it will be for consoles. So far we have

    BlazBlue
    Battle Fantasia
    Street Fighter IV
    Tatsunoko Vs Capcom
    Tekken 6
    Soul Calibur 4
    King of the Fighters XII
    Virtua Fighter 5 R

While all of these will be coming out this year, (Tekken 6 and Battle Fantasia technically last year) the only ones we know for a fact are coming out for the home market this year are Battle Fantasia which just came out and baring any huge problems Soul Calibur 4 since it is designed for homes. Any bets on the others? My money is on 2009 for all of them. I am just hoping for a PS3 version of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom since chances of it coming out here are slim to none. By the way am I forgetting any here?

The game was always running on laptops when they showed people playing test builds in photos on the japanese development blog, so I am not surprised it will be released for PCs as well.
  • What I can say is very nice and helpful as well as informative post...really help me very much more!! Thanks..
