Tri-Ace and Square Enix have been so secretive about which sequel Star Ocean 4 will be released on. Finally, at Microsoft’s RPG event Square Enix revealed Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope is in development for the Xbox 360 and it will come out in 2009. Unlike the Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailers the end of the Star Ocean 4 clip says “for Xbox 360”, not “only for Xbox 360” which will inevitably lead to speculation if or when there will be a PlayStation 3 version in the future.
While currently unmentioned outside of Japan, Square Enix trademarked the Last Hope in the USA, Star Ocean 4’s subtitle, last month. I thought The Last Hope sounded too similar to Star Wars Episode IV back then, but its official now! Take a look at a trailer with some new footage below.
