Marvelous makes the Wii remote a royal scepter with Little King’s Story

Xseed and Marvelous are joining forces to publish Little King's Story (Ousama Monogatari) in North America. On top of the Japanese name you may recall the game referred to as “Project O” when Cing, the team behind Hotel Dusk: 215, was originally announced as the developer. Little King Story puts you in the shoes of Corobo, a shy boy who discovers a crown that gives him the ability to charm anyone. After testing his power, he is told by the bull-knight that he is now the king and Corobo vows to change his tiny town into a thriving kingdom.

Little King Story is a mix of a simulation and a Pikmin-like strategy game in a fairy tale setting. When I first saw it I thought the blend was fresh, but unluckily for Marvelous their game will be compared to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King due to the similar looking boyish king protagonist. Japan gets a chance to play Ousama Monogatari first when it comes out in Q3 2008. North America doesn’t have to wait much longer since it’s slated for a winter 2008 release.
