New Stafy game has dragons, co-op, and probably pirates

stafy.jpgIt’s been two years since the last Legend of Stafy game and Tose is making some changes with Densetsu no Stafi: Taiketsu Daiiru Kaizokudan (Legend of Stafy: Confrontation! Daiiru (?) Pirate Brigade). The starfish character has a new ability that lets him transform into creatures like a dragon. While in the Dranpa suit Stafy can breathe fire that burns rubble. There are four tabs on the official site, which logically translate to four transformations. DS Fanboy mentions a Famitsu article showing one of the other changing options turns Stafy into a seal.

The other technical change let’s Stafy’s sister, Stapy, join up through wireless play. However, you don’t need a copy of Densetsu no Stafi: Taiketsu Daiiru Kaizokudan to help a friend out. A second player can join in via DS downloadable play during boss battles and select areas. Stapy has her own skills like wall jumping and a block breaking crouching spin attack. If you want to collect everything in the game it looks like you’re going to need Stapy’s help.

Nintendo will release Densetsu no Stafi: Taiketsu Daiiru Kaizokudan on July 10 and at this time no North American release date has been announced. However, thanks to Super Smash Brothers Brawl the character is now internationally known. Perhaps that’s enough leverage for Nintendo of America or Nintendo of Europe to localize the title in the future.

Know what would be cool? If it had Co-Op Dragon Pirates.

wahhhhh I hate when people call it stafy! it’s starfyyyyyyyyy

@brandon – I always thought it was Starfy, which makes sense because hes a Starfish. But it’s romanized so many different ways and I think Nintendo called him Stafy now in Smash Brothers so that’s how America knows him. :(

Not too sure about this game, tried the 4th game, was a bit fun but not that worth another round…
If the improvements are much bigger and enjoyable than the last ds Stafy game maybe id consider it..

Mikael, the 4th game was actually quite a step down in terms of quality from the previous game (IMO), I have all 4 and personally I found the 3rd one to be the best (and I’m definitely not alone in this).
Maybe the new game will be a return to form?
