Digital Devil Saga reprint goes on sale in July

ddsreprint.jpgSince Persona 3 is acting as a gateway into other Shin Megami Tensei games Atlus has been reprinting some of their rarer titles. Play-Asia seems to be the place to buy them instead of Game Quest Direct, who used to fund reprints out of their own pocket.

In July Play-Asia will have copies of Digital Devil Saga, minus the CD and controller “armor” (read: sticker) included in the Digital Devil Saga: Deluxe Box Set. The standalone game will only cost $44.99, the same price as they are selling Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. A reprint of Digital Devil Saga 2 seems inevitable even though it isn’t as rare as the previous two games.

In respect to the Shin Megami Tensei games "importing" reprints is cheaper than buying them from a secondhand market. Very amusing.

I already have both DDS games, but I’m still delighted by the news. When I first went out looking for the game, it was less than a year old and already near impossible to find. Any RPG fans who are interested should buy it while it is still there.

Camden Says:

After playing Persona 3 and the latest Devil Summoner, I’ve always wanted to play other Shin Megami games, but they were too hard to find. I guess I’m going to make my first purchases from Play-Asia soon.

Louise Says:

I’m glad that Atlus is so open to suggestions for reprints. It’s a relief for people’s wallets not to have to shell out absurd ebay prices just to play a game.

Angelous Says:

The reprint has been out for a while. Gamestop beat Play-Asia to it and the rumor is that Gamestop bought the entire initial re-print run.

But Gamestop unsealed those Re-prints and sold them as “used”. Bastards could have just kept them sealed…

SteveJ Says:

Yep, I bought my copies of Nocturne and DDS from Gamestop. They were brand new, but opened and sold as used. Weird. I have to presume there was some reason why they did this, but what?

SteveJ Says:

I failed to mention, that it worked out well for me because I bought them during the buy 2 get 1 free sale, along with Rock Band PS2. They were all $39.99, so I got them for $26.66 each (plus tax.) Good deal.

mark Says:

a reprint or dlwnloadable persona 1 + 2 would be nice

QBasic Says:

Play-Asia is the only honest place to purchase brand spankin’ new reprints. The other places simply unpack, jack up the prices, then sell as rare “used” titles.

Oh well. Dem’s the breaks. I’ve always loved Play-Asia anyways…

Hayden Says:

Regarding Gamestop and the new/used issue on Nocturne/DDS, if they were purchased “aftermarket” — rememeber a lot of these titles showed up only after Atlus shut down their own online store — they can’t be sold as anything other than resale (used). This would also be the case if on paper, Gamestop purchased them from Play-Asia or Game Quest.

BigNev44 Says:

I agree with Mark,i would rather have Persona 1 and both Persona 2s available here,i just bought DDS 1,2 and Nocturne,i then bought devil Summoner from ebay all of last week.

Please Atlus, give us Persona 1 (UNCUT) and both Persona 2 Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment from the PS1

Pedro Silva Says:

hope they reprint them all for the Wii. (see what I did here? heh)
