Ubisoft promises more party games with Play Zone label (update)

In the eyes of Ubisoft the Wii doesn’t have enough party games. Their plan for the Wii is to brand future mini-game collections under the Play Zone label, a concept reminiscent of their stitched together Imagine brand for tweens. The first game to use the Play Zone brand is Sports Party, a branch off Wii Sports, with nine sports. Represented in the collection are: croquet, lawn darts, badminton, horse shoes, mini-golf and basketball. Europe gets it on July 11 and a US release seems likely.

That statement about Nintendo-like quality is going to haunt Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft.

Update: JC Fletcher from Nintendo Wii Fanboy points out something interesting. Sports Party is already in the USA under the name Summer Sports! It looks like Ubisoft's "Party Zone" label shares something else in common with the Imagine line up. Both brands license "casual" games for other regions.
