In accordance with the recent firmware update for the Wii, Datel removed all versions of the Wii Freeloader from their retail site Codejunkies.com. A link to the product page still exists on Google, but the internal search engine excludes the Wii Freloader. A pragmatic decision. It would be unethical for Datel to sell a defunct device after issuing the following statement.
Please note, due to circumstances beyond our control Wii Freeloader is not compatible with latest version Wii firmware 3.3 and higher, just released (released as an online update 17/06/2008).
You can continue to use Wii Freeloader perfectly with any Wii console running firmware 3.2 and below. If you upgrade to Wii firmware 3.3 or higher this WILL disable the Freeloader function and it will stop working for all future use on all import games.
The disc isn’t rare yet. Plenty of other retail outlets still sell the Wii Freeloader with or without warnings about firmware version 3.3. Datel has not mentioned any plans to sell an updated Wii Freeloader or if they will continue the Freeloader lineup at this time.

I hope Datal releases an update instead of just moving. I hate the regional lock that these consoles have. The gameboy never had region lock, and that never hurt Nintendo in the past. Why bother having this lame “feature” on consoles?
Region coding has got to go. Nintendo needs to wake up and smell the lost profit. So does Microsoft with their only limited region-free games. I just can’t understand why they would want to prevent people from buying games they want to buy.

Dang it, just let us play our imports alrdy Nintendo.. w/ the DS, PSP, PS3, Xbox 360 (most US games) being region free, I’m just not used to being locked out anymore.. It’s a bumper such an update came so soon, it was only a matter of time, guess I won’t be updating in a while.
