Archetypes and Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4

Archetypes and Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 imagesWith only a few weeks until Persona 4 comes out Famitsu posted a cheat sheet with a summary about what know about Persona 4 thus far and the cast feels awkwardly similar to Persona 3. Yousuke takes the Junpei role as the goofy clown of the group. Yukikio is from a wealthy family ala Mitsuru, but . Kanji is a tough guy"kind of like Shinjiro only with more of a gothic look.Granted the characters in Persona 4 will have their own personalities, but some of them feel like they were cut out of an existing mold. I just hope Atlus didn't rush out a sequel since Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 became a hit.

There are some new character types thrown in the mix like Chie who has a passion for martial arts. Naoto is a high school detective and Rise used to be an idol before she relocated into a rural school. Kuma, the obvious mascot character of the game, has a Persona holding a giant missile which looks just awesome. Kuma’s persona, like all of the base personae in Persona 4, have roots Japanese mythology. This is a change from Persona 3, which was a smorgasbord of Greek, Roman, and Egyptian mythology personae. Persona 4 is said to have 180 different kinds of personae and with a number that high there is bound to be some variation.

Here is a quick rundown of who has what in the beginning of the game.

Protaganist – Izanagi

Yousuke – Jiraiya

Chie – Tomoe

Yukiko – Konohanasakuya

Kuma – Kintouki Douji

Kanji – Take Mikazuchi

Rise – Himiko

Naoto – Sukunahikona

And here is a new promotional video showing the cast of characters announced thus far. Yes, there is an event where everyone wears swimsuits just like the class trip in Persona 3 too.

The wait for this game has felt so short, and I've been following it since we first got word of it. Another 2 weeks to go and we will all be in Persona glory.

be careful with this. if you think about these things too much, you may never play another rpg again, particularly jrpgs.

Another nail in the SMT coffin....

How so? This isn't a SMT game. That's like calling this game another nail in Trauma Center's coffin just because they share an artist.
