Koei isn’t forsaking the PlayStation 2 even though Dynasty Warriors series moved onto other consoles. This September Shin Sangoku Musou 5 will emerge as a “new” PlayStation 2 game, nearly a year since it was released in Japan for the PS3 and Xbox 360. By “new” I mean Shin Sangoku Musou 5 Special is Dynasty Warriors 6 with downgraded graphics and at least three more general stories to play. While the decision to port Dynasty Warriors 6 to the PlayStation sounds unorthodox it is not unprecedented.
Earlier this year Koei pulled the same strategy with Gundam Musou and released Gundam Musou Special in Japan. When compared side by side with videos, it looks like Omega Force did a decent job converting Gundam Musou. Of course, the troop count is higher and the graphics look better on advanced hardware, but if you don’t have another option you’re getting a similar experience with the PS2. I guess this can be interpreted as a compliment or a criticism depending on how jaded you are with the Musou series.

meh. they’re bringing DW6 to the PC as well. as long as you can pump the settings up even higher than that on 360 and ps3 i’ll be happy.
Given they’re already downscaling the engine, I wonder why they’re not throwing Wii DW6 or Gundam Musou? Seems like a missed opportunity…
Once again we have Dynasty Warriors 6 Hyper Extreme Mega Legends Championship Edition Turbo EX.
