This is Tatsunoko vs. Capcom

By Rolando . July 9, 2008 . 1:00am

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, announced a while back, is better known now as the spiritual successor to Marvel vs. Capcom. For a while, though, we were treated to screens of some of the game's characters and marveling at the game's graphical style; yetmany were wondering just how good does the game look in motion. Though some people living in Japan have already had access to location tests of the game, the lot of us who are less fortunate now have the opportunity to see the official trailer for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, complete with a sample battle at the end with characters announced shown at the beginning!

Even if the video is poor in quality (a higher quality video can be found on Nico Nico Douga), it gives you a great idea of just how the game will look in motion. Even better, that same lovely Morrigan sprite we've all come to know and love is now gone and replaced with something new! Enjoy the trailer and pray that either this comes to North America baring licensing issues or is announced for the Playstation 3 region free.

Any guesses on other upcoming characters joining the Tatsunoko or Capcom rosters? Go wild with guesses!

    Rockman Dash stage~ Rockman Dash stage~ =D

    Hope this means that either Rock Volnutt or Tron Bonne (or both) will be playable.

    Also, I like how the theme changes whenever a character is tagged in.

    Tron Bonne!!! xD
    Bring back the servbots!
    And it would be nice to have Marvel back T_T

    This looks better than Street Fighter 4 D:
    Does anyone know if it's confirmed for regions other than Japan ^_^;
  • Am I the only one who thought the characters were moving fairly slow?

    Maybe I'm just used to the speed of SF3, but the animations seemed slower than usual (I especially noticed this with Chun-li).

    i hope they can release it to north america
  • CriticalFury
    Man i'm so loving the air combos when your partner comes in and continues with it.
  • Nightcap
    It'd be cool if Gen came back for this game though I suppose his move set doesnt really fit well with this sort of game.

    Freaking Battsu. There are like 30 other Rival Schools characters I'd rather see in this game.

    I'll probably never use him, but even with him weighing the game down, this game still looks pretty badass.

    Hum, it looks like this game runs on the System 246/256 with a 4:3 aspect ratio so it is more in line with a PS2 title. Arcade Renaissance is saying that it looks like the game will be a swap out for owners of the Sengoku Basara X machine. Both games only use 4 buttons so it does make sense. What does everybody think? Look like a PS2/Wii level game to you guys? I can't help but think that it does look a couple notches better but that is just my opinion.

    My god, I can't believe they brought out Gold Lightan (lighter turns into a giant robot)! That's one of my favorite anime when I was a kid. I still prefer the 90's Tekkaman Blade though, but it can't be helped they have to use the original retro one :(

    I'm not too knowledgeable on the technical issues, but I think this looks better than SF4, at least I want this game more. Also Chun Li doesn't look like she's on steroid w/ her freakish giant palms.

    If this is coming to the PS3, we could always just import it right?
  • Yes, we could always just import it. I'm not too familiar with who owns what Tatsunoko licenses here in North America. Anyone know?
  • duduman
    well i cant wait for this , if its for the ps3 which would be the best system for it anyway, but we can just import it , ps3's aren't region locked , sucks to be you 360

    @Rolando

    Well I know that ADV Films owns the US rights to the original Gatchaman TV show in the US. I believe that somebody owns Tekkaman but not sure who. The rest I am not even sure if they are licensed at all in the US. One thing that needs to be addressed here though is that I am not sure this is the final list of characters and since it will probably include more characters who knows what can happen. Like I said before the big kicker I think would be Mach Go Go Go/Speed Racer. That being said I don't really see how he would fit in this game anyways as he isn't really a fighting hero. If he get sin, I would expect somebody from Time Bouken as well.
  • Remember how in Sega's Fighters Megamix you could play as the car Hornet from Daytona USA? Imagine how much cooler it would be to fight as the Mach 5! That car's got some serious moves.

    It'd be nice for a car to finally get revenge on the SF crowd, too.

    I saw this demo running on an HD TV in Akihabara here a couple of days ago. This is not something you could put on a PS2 without some trouble, the graphics are actually really nice. Very smooth and have a nice kind of liquid feel to them. Its like cell shaded but the shadowing makes it look quite cool.

    I am a big SF fan and used to play competitively back home in Sydney, and to tell you the truth, at the moment I am more excited about this than SF4 (although I'll make the final judgment when I play them). Although it does really look like it plays like a traditional VS game, which was a system I wasn't too crazy about, something about it seems very nice and polished.

    It was cool to see the Onimusha character in there, would love to see someone from Final Fight (come on Guy) and Strider in there as well from the Capcom side. Actually, that would be my dream team, Guy and Strider hehe, Dante would also be cool.
