Three years after it came out in Japan, Square Enix will release Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII International as a value priced Ultimate Hits game on September 4. Don’t get envious yet. Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII International is in actuality just the North America version of Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. When Square Enix localized the game Vincent learned how to run faster, got a limit break item to transform instead of using his MP, and had a number of post game Extra Missions. The catch was online play via PlayOnline found in the original Japanese release was removed from the game.

We don’t know if all of the changes from the US version will be in Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII International, but the borrowed feature list includes the extra missions, character viewer, sound gallery, art gallery. New for Japan is the awesome box art pictured above.

Yuck, they can have as many international editions of that awful game as want. I personally do not care for that game.

I've never heard of "Ultimate Hits" before. Hasn't it always been stuff like "The Best", in terms of the Greatest Hits line for Japan?
  • @Chow - "Ultimate Hits" is the brand for Square Enix reprints in Japan. Taito has "Eternal Hits", Konami has "Konami the Best" and so forth. There are plenty of times in Japan where games get a second print internally instead of waiting for Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo to add them to a collection.

I only own the non-upgraded Jpn version of this game and stopped at half way.. This cover (from the OST) is really nice, too bad surrounded by the ugly ultimate hit frame. I always made a point of staying away from the best or greatest hits even if it means spending a bit more, I know it's superficial..

I wait reprint Final Fantasy VII (PSONE), the same way Konamui with Metal Gear Solid.
