DS Docomodake almost went to Disney

stitch.jpgWhen I saw Poronron! Docomodake I wrote it off as a game that AQ Interactive would never bring to North America. NTT DoCoMo’s mascot doesn’t have the same amount of love in the West. Actually, the iconic mobile phone mushroom is unknown here. Surprisingly, AQ Interactive always thought of releasing Poronron! Docomodake internationally. Speaking with someone, I found out one of the earliest ideas was to rework the game with the help of Disney. Stitch was discussed as the character to take the lead.

That was the past. Instead Ignition Entertainment will publish the game In North America with Docomodake as the star. They aren’t pulling any sprite swaps like in the good old days where it was OK to replace Roger Rabbit with Bugs Bunny. Given the gameplay of Docomodake it could have worked well with the Aqua Teen Hunger Force license with Meatwad as the main character.

So you really are quite the ATHF superfan ;)

I think you were the only one who gave serious coverage to the PS2 game, and I've seen you namedrop the series quite a few time from then on. All good with me! And I'm curiously interested in this DS title.
