Star Soldier Collection lands on September 25

If a retail listing wasn’t enough credible evidence that a bundle of Star Solider ROMs was coming to the PSP, Hudson just confirmed it. They have a site online for Solider Collection, which is part of their PC Engine Best Collection. The UMD contains four games: Super Soldier, Final Soldier, Soldier Blade, and Star Parodier with some bonus power play movies for 2,940 yen ($28). Right now the PC Engine Best Collection is only for Japan, but a bunch of Star Solider games should be import friendly. Also the price is not a bad deal considering the cost of Virtual Console prices releases. Star Parodius is the unique game in the collection. It’s the Paradious of the Star Solider series where your plane can transform into a PC Engine or Bomberman. Take a look in the clip below.

That’s awesome; the PSP is an awesome platform for SHMUP compilations. But a brand new widescreen+horizontal SHMUP would be even better!!! I know verts are much more popular, but who could say no to a new Gradius?

Hmm… what are Treasure working on currently, Spencer?

Regarding the Star Parodier footage: A-freakin’-dorable. I know the whole parody thing is going to incite connections to Parodius, but this game feels so much more cutesy — like Twinbee, only not cloying or created for the merchandising opportunities.

    Do want, will buy.
