User generated content dominates Daigasso! Band Brothers DX charts

Daigasso! Band Brothers DX has been out in Japan for almost one month and there is already a library of songs to pick from. Nintendo didn’t create all of them. Anyone who purchases Daigasso! Band Brothers DX can create a song and upload it on Nintendo’s servers for other players to download. Looking at this week’s top song chart the top four songs are created be users. Here’s what Daigasso! Band Brothers DX players are interested in during the week of July 17 - July 23:

1.) Shuchi Shin (Shuchi Shin)

2.) Gake no Ue no Ponyo (Miyazaki movie theme?)

3.) Nakanai de (Shuchi Shin)

4.) Kiseki (GReeeeN)

5.) Nando mo (Aoyama Thelma)* created by Nintendo

The untranslated list is one hundred songs long and it looks like there are substantially over 100 songs to download. Too bad the cartridge is capped at 100 downloads. Nintendo can make a pretty penny by selling passionate Daigasso! Band Brothers DX musicians extra carts.

If I remember correctly, when Daigasso! Band Brothers DX was released, the #1 downloaded song for that week was also user-made (opening theme for Evangelion). Actually, from all the times I’ve checked that list, the #1 song was always user-made.

The 100 cap hasn’t been a problem for me so far, since I don’t recognize many of the songs or I’m waiting/hoping for better versions.

I wonder when/if the growing amount of uploaded songs will finally hit Nintendo’s limit and less popular songs will start to be deleted. Over 1000 songs in a month… 800+ of them user-made. If it keeps going at that rate, there would be 10,000+ songs by the end of the year. o.O

It would be awesome if this gets a release in the west so we can play songs from over here… there are 100 Muse songs that I’d download alone, though. But yeah that’s not gonna happen.

It’ll probably be another half year before my 100 limit is reached - which is more than fair, really, there are not many games I play for half a year.

This site is keeping up with all of the content. Japanese of course, but nothing translate.google.com can’t help with. There are currenly over 881 user-created songs on that list (though there are quite a few duplicates).

I still have 76 free slots in my game.
