PlayStation 3 2.42 firmware ready for download

By Spencer . July 29, 2008 . 8:49pm

I was trying to check the PlayStation Store to see if the Last Guy was ready to download when I got a warning saying I needed to update my firmware to 2.42. The update is slowly prodding along so I don't know what fruit it will bear. My guess is Life with PlayStation since Sony announced it was coming out at the end of this month at their press conference. If anyone completed the download post what I'm about to get in the comments.

Update: It's not Life with PlayStation. PS3 Fanboy points out the firmware improves playback of some PS3 and PlayStation software. Uneventful and I'm not even done downloading it.

Speaking of "The Last Guy", did you see that crazy developer spoof promo, it's so out there. Still pondering if Dark Mist is worth d/l'ing for half price, it's 400 yen until tmw..
  • @Aoshi00 - I really liked Dark Mist, except for the shaking, the levels are the same each play through, but it's a fun game you can get into. If you like the dungeons of Zelda, but hate walking through the overworld it's worth 400 yen.

Thanks Spence, I wasn't sure of the shaking, could get a little too much like Folklore, also for the lack of save function. I guess 400 yen is a fair price except w/o the expansion pack..

Back to the subject, they really want us to turn on their consoles even when not playing games huh, to chk out the weather and news all in one place. I find myself just d/l movie or game trailers w/ the PS3 a lot..

Can't wait to hear your impression of "The Last Guy" :)
