It's a fun romp. Maybe it's more of an action RPG with the strategic underpinnings of rogue-like battle system, but it's still fun. The job system definitely helps. Some of the special dungeons are really tough even for an expert, but they end too quickly to be really challenging. (then again, I wish the blind and 1HP dungeon WOULD be shorter than it is)

The main dungeons don’t put up much resistance to a seasoned Rogue-like player, but I wouldn’t say they wouldn’t enjoy it all the same. I mean, I'm not an idiot and even agree some of the end dungeons in Shiren are a bit too much (don't even BOTHER unless all of your equipment is buffed to the max and even then you might get your ass handed to you and lose ALL of your stuff) but there is something about this that comes off as even more "light and airy" than PMD. I don't mind cutesy but I need a little "hanging by the skin of my teeth" moments in my roguelikes.

I know I have no right to comment since I didn’t try it myself, but from all I’ve read it really sounds like they may have over done the “keeping it friendly and frustration free”.
