konami.jpgIn the height of hype pre-orders for the Metal Gear Solid 4 80 GB PlayStation 3 bundle may have been responsible for Amazon’s crash. Now you can get an even more limited package direct from Konami with less fuss. The key hardware difference is you get a 40GB PlayStation 3 with the Limited Edition Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 bundle, which isn’t backwards compatible with PlayStation 2 games. The package contains a Gunmetal Gray console, Gunmetal Gray Dualshock 3 controller, and the two disc special edition of Metal Gear Solid 4. The package will set you back $599.99 plus tax and shipping. The 80 GB Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle costs $499.99 if you can find one. Just for comparison’s sake a vanilla 40GB PS3 and the two disc limited edition version of Metal Gear Solid 4 costs $484.98.

Update: Within hours the bundle went from in stock to gone forever.

The gunmetal color is all nice and good, but definitely not worth trading away backward compatibility. My friend recently bought a regular 40Gb PS3 and claimed that he could do fine by still hooking up the half-working PS2 (sour grape), now he sees that Amazon has in stock the 80Gb w/ BC, he jumped the gun and bought this bundle again. Wonder how he’s going to sell the plain 40Gb from him though.

Seriously, some people say that rumble and B/C are unimportant, they really add a lot of value to the PS3.

The 80Gb w/ B/C, MGS4, and Dual Shock 3 is really the best deal one could get.

I can’t agree more with your comment, just look at the gunmetal PS3 deal, it’s been there since MGS4 came out and they still have stock on their website, meaning no one is buying because of the expensive price tag on the system. I recently bought the MGS4 bundle and I am super happy.. and more lucky my MGS4 was cracked when I opened it and they gave me a regular MGS4 with barcode and a new reciept so I went the next day and refund it and got $60 from it.. so my PS3 system with DualShock 3 was only $439.99 it’s really worth it

hmm.. I just went back to the site and checked ahah.. its finally been sold out.. last week was still there. I guess this news doesn’t apply at all

The Best PS3 that was Available was the Original 60GB PS3,but since that was discontinued the best one to get is the 80GB PS3 with something like 70%-85% Backwards PS2 Compatibility. Ya it’s not as good as the 60GB PS3 but it is the best you can get while supplies last. I am just glad I got the 60GB PS3 when it went down from $600 to $500.

I am very Curious how well the PS3 will sell once New 80GB PS3 with no B/C, no Flash Card Reader & only 2 USB ports is the only PS3 available around the world for $399.99. Will still sell well? I can’t wait to find out.
