It's not just SCEJ, but Sony in other regions. Sony announced Resistance, but basically all that is is taking the team that made the yearly Syphon Filter do that instead.

Sony Online had a couple of big PSP hits in the Untold Legends games, but it's been 2 years I think since the last one came out. (I think their last game was Field Commander, which I enjoyed, but no sequel seems to be coming, either).

If Sony themselves aren't supporting the PSP, what's the motivation for 3rd parties to do so?

Interesting and enlightening graph charts. According to the Sony reps at e3, there should be more psp development activity coming down the pipeline for 09 because of the systems sales spike, but then again that could just be PR talk. Personally I'm disappointed that first party development has dropped off and that big name titles are few and far between.

The one question these charts bring up but have yet to be answered conclusively by anyone is why was there such a steep drop off after 2006? Why did publishers shy away from the system? The easy answer is piracy but has any publisher made any comment towards this?

Good article, I have a feeling all of the "major" gaming blogs will pick this up. This is some incredibly in-depth analysis (GRAPHS NEVER LIE!) but you left out Nihon Falcom. In Japan, the Eiyuu Densetsu PSP ports have single-handedly been responsible for the company's financial stability (and growth). A shame the recent installments continue to be shunned by American publishers, due in no small part to Bamco's localization fiasco.
