Ys Book I & II opens on the Virtual Console

Ys Book I & II opens on the Virtual ConsoleWe may not get Super Mario RPG this week, but Ys Book I & II is something for RPG fans to be happy about. For 800 Wii Points ($8) you can see Adol body slam monsters instead of using his sword. As the title suggests, Ys Book I & II is a compilation of the first two TurboGrafx-16 CD-ROM games. You’re essentially each game for $4. Samurai Shodown 2, another title scheduled to come out at the beginning of the month, finally gets released on the Virtual Console too for 900 Wii Points ($9). I’ll pass on Samurai Shodown 2 and hope the Xbox Live Arcade release has online play whenever it comes out. If that doesn't happen there is always Samurai Shodown Anthology.

If you’re looking for something brand new there is Helix, an upper body dancing game where you punch to techno music. Ghostfire Games recommends you have two remotes ready to play Helix since you’re going to need one for each hand. There is a control scheme for one remote, but it over simplifies Helix by skipping moves for the hand that doesn’t have a remote. And you can’t use the nunchuck to replace a missing remote. Take a look at the gameplay video below and see if this is worth 1,000 Wii Points ($10) for you.

Wow HELIX looks like a bunch of crap.

I already have my TurboDuo copy of Ys Books I&II but great for those who don’t! And I’m also waiting for the Wii Samurai Shodown Collection.
