Japan gets Secret of Mana on the Virtual Console in September

som.jpgThe monthly line up of scheduled Virtual Console games is steadily shrinking. Quality is compensating for quantity in September since Japan’s forecast includes Space Invaders for the Super Famicom, Mario Golf 64, Forgotten Worlds, and, most notably, Secret of Mana. The best part about Secret of Mana is gathering three people to play the game together, but that required a Super Nintendo multitap. The Wii can support three controllers without any extra hardware which seals the deal for me.

Since Secret of Mana is being released as a Virtual Console game in Japan it should get similar treatment in North America. Remember, Kings Knight and ActRaiser showed up in North America shortly after they were released in Japan. Before that happens, Tantei Jinguuji Saburo: Yokohama Harbor Serial Murder Case will be the lone Virtual Console game to kick off September’s schedule.

Here's the complete schedule:

Famicom (500 Wii Points / $5)

Tantei Jinguuji Saburo: Yokohama Harbor Serial Murder Case*

Wagan Land

Super Famicom (800 Wii Points / $8)

Secret of Mana

cool! I actually just bought a Super Famicon with this game, Star Ocean, Chrono Trigger, and like 7 others for 6000yen. But, I think I will buy it anyway.

Exciting! Hopefully it doesn’t take as long as Ys did to cross the pond.

If this comes to the US, I’ll have renewed faith in the VC. I really have no idea what took Nintendo so long with Ys.

One of the best games ever. I hope they translate the 3rd one and bring it over to the US VC, but I doubt they will go through that trouble.
