PSP PSN downloadable games get UMD collections

psppsn Sony Computer Entertainment Japan is shifting their strategy to digital distribution by releasing retail games simultaneously as cheaper PlayStation Network downloads. In Europe Sony is going in the other direction. This October two boxed Playstation Network Collection discs will ship, each with three first party published PSN games. The Playtation Network Power Pack comes with fl0w, Beats, and Syphon Filter: Combat Ops. Lemmings, Go! Sudoku, and Go! Puzzle are part of the PlayStation Network Collection: Puzzle Pack. No price has been announced for either compilation so we don’t even know if this is going to be a value bundle or more expensive due to the packaging costs. Releasing PSN compilations is a quick, but slipshod way to quell the PSP software drought in the west. But Sony Computer Entertainment Europe could be working on localizing some of Sony’s other PSP games like Coded Soul, Rezel Cross, or Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida instead.
