Nintendo announced Wii Music will come out on October 20 in North America. That’s only four days after it makes a debut in Japan. We still don’t know the song list in either region. Nintendo said the 50+ songs would be a mix of popular licensed music, classical tunes, and Nintendo themes. The only confirmed song for North America is the Super Mario Brothers theme. In Wii Music you can play the Super Mario Brothers theme by picking one of sixty instruments or control the orchestra by using the Wii remote as a conductor’s baton. Less freeform games include a handbells game where you use the remote and nunchuck to play specific notes and a tone quiz that has players put Miis in order by their pitch. The drum lesson feature still sounds like the most novel feature, but that requires the balance board and a separate purchase of Wii Fit.
