Resident Evil Remake Wiimake Is Currently "Japan only"

Resident Evil Remake Wiimake Is Currently "Japan only" The Gamecube remake of Resident Evil 1 is coming to the Wii on December 25. Did you see the scan? Good, but as of now it’s not in Capcom USA’s schedule. Christian Svensson, Vice President of Strategic Planning & Business Development, went on record at the Capcom Forums with, “At the moment, like Zero, this is Japan only. That could change but that’s the current situation.” Unsurprising news considering Capcom USA passed on publishing Resident Evil Zero on the Wii. It doesn’t look like you’re going to be missing out on much either since Resident Evil on the Wii doesn’t offer anything new  except for Wii remote control.

While you might be groaning about another quick Resident Evil port from Capcom releasing Resident Evil Zero on the Wii made decent cash for Capcom. Svensson explains, “In Japan, Zero sold well indicating that many people have never played the title and there is demand for it. This project is a reaction to the sale of Zero.” Realizing that near direct ports of backwards compatible Gamecube games sold “well” and the Okami Wii-make didn’t sell like hot cakes is a sobering thought.

I would get REmake in a heartbeat if it came out on the PS3, as long as it requires no SixAxis shaking. Speaking of which, I certainly hope Capcom doesn’t try to sneak any Wiimote waggling in this. It would be downright illogical.

    Wording is key, though.
    The expectations are very different.
Considering the changes for Zero were minimal, the 50-60k it sold in Japan were probably easily recouperated.

Okami Wii, which didn’t release in Japan, was outsourced and was in development for quite some time. While it has sold about three times better in NA and Europe(Approx. 150k total) than Zero did in Japan, the profit margin was probably higher with Zero.

Eitherway, it seems like very little profit considering low sales of both.

What doesn’t make sense is why they don’t do something original, seeing as Umbrella Chronicles did over a million and RE4 Wii was a great remake with the IR shooting that sold over a million as well.

The market exists, and Zero/Original aren’t reaching the same level as the previous ones, which I’m sure made a hell of a lot more money for Capcom.

Don’t worry Chow. You will be able to play with the Gamecube controller.

In fact, you could pick up the Gamecube version now and do the same thing, only it’s cheaper. And no waiting.

Becky will do that to you.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a RE2 port of some kind on the Wii. Mine recently stopped working, so bring it, Capcom!

Everyone has been asking for RE2 port, but they keep dissapointing.
Well, that and RE5 on the RE4 engine. Shouldn’t be that hard:

Capcom USA should bundle the remake with RE0 and sell it for $29.99. It’d probably move a good amount that way.

I really don’t get why they are releasing a game that you can already play on the wii.

Sigh. I wish Capcom would put a RE on the PSP. Even a port like this would be great.

Yeah, I’ve played the GameCube version already. But I’m just saying I’d get it if it were on a Sony system as well. An RE2make would be awesome.
