A Much Clearer Look At The Level 5 / Studio Ghibli Project

nino Famitsu has some images of Ni no Kuni: The Another World, Level 5′s project with Studio Ghibli. So far it looks endearing. The animation stills and the actual DS screenshots. The plot is about a 13 year old boy who adventures into a fantasy world to save his mother. I’m not sure what the name of the obligatory cuddly sidekick is, but I like his lantern nose. I hope he’s used as a light in the final game. Ni no Kuni: The Another World is still a long way off. It won’t arrive in Japan until 2009 and a North American release for this fantasy RPG has not been confirmed. This probably will see an international release though, the question is really who is going to pick it up.

The Ghibli animation is certainly attractive, but time traveling/parallel universe games have been hit or miss. Personally I didn’t like Sigma Harmonics, going around the same places and seeing the same people dying in different ways got old fast, not to mention sluggish movement.. I’m confident in Level 5 though, their Layton games were awesome, the screen shots look amazing for DS.
