White Knight Chronicles has been getting quite a lot of attention since Level 5 finally announced when it will make its worldwide debut. Meanwhile Sony quietly announced a second Playstation 3 exclusive action RPG they have they are working on scheduled to come out next year. It’s called Demon Souls and it’s being developed by From Software who once worked on King’s Field. The art style for Demon Souls is quite different from other Japanese RPGs. You don’t have cookie cutter anime heroes. The world of Demon Souls has heavily armored knights in more of a medieval setting. Less Lodoss War, more King Arthur with flying stingrays is the feeling I get from the first screenshots.

    This game looks wicked.

Yeah but From Software can be kind of iffy in my experience. King's Field was not much fun. Oh well, not like I have a PS3 (yet) anyway.
  • Wait. Another From Software game for the PS3 that doesn't involve giant robots? What's going on? Are they afraid of making a game involving robots too awesome, perhaps?

I peed my pants a little at the mention of King's Field. Along with Battle Arena Toshinden that was one of my first (and most fond) PSX experiences.

    This looks intense, wow
