Yup I know the plugin, as YMCK is one of my favorite bands. I’ve tried it and it’s alright, but it’s a matter of a good application to use it in. Possibly better than magical… is peach/toad/triforce from Tweakbench (free as well)

And trackers are hell for me I’ve tried famitracker, LSDj, nanoloop, milkytracker and even pixel’s … I forget the name but with unsuccessful results as you can imagine.

Lack of free time is also a factor. These chiptunes take a hell of a lot longer to compose than most folks would imagine! That’s why I’m totally impressed with the MM9 soundtrack.

Two programs recreate the sound of the NES. The magical8bitplug is a plugin for sequencers by famed group YMCK, and should be freely available on their website, and also easier to use than…

…MML, the text language mentioned in the interview, which is much more complex to learn but a lot more flexible. It’s the weapon of choice of the best chiptune composers!

Still, if you wish to learn the basics and start making the old 2A03 beep, get the plugin!

The music is Megaman 9 is quite nice, I still haven’t beaten Wily’s castle yet …

I’m interested in the arranged soundtrack as well. It would be cool if they would put in a beefed up soundtrack as DLC in the future.
