World Destruction (That DS RPG From The Xenogears Staff) Shattering North America In The Future

By Spencer . October 14, 2008 . 12:03pm

worldda At Tokyo Game Show I caught up Ryoei Mikage, the President of Imageepoch, and among discussing Arc Rise Fantasia, Seventh Dragon, and a bunch of other titles we touched on World Destruction. He told me Imageepoch is currently working on the US version of World Destruction which Sega USA will publish in the future. A complete US version is on the table which includes famed composer Yasunori Mitsuda rewriting songs and making them original for the US release. The difficulty of the game may also be altered since Imageepoch is taking feedback from players outside of Japan.

So, World Destruction is coming. We just need to wait for Sega to give us a firm date. However, the release may not be in the near future since as Mikage-san explains they are looking at a full localization.

Awesome news, I hope more sega games get localized for America

  • This is very good news.

  • jeffx

HAHAH YES YES YES Spencer you are a GOD for asking these questions and coming out with the good news.

Seems like the general consensus is that the difficulty is uneven, with random battles sometimes really hard and bosses pathetically easy.

  • Joanna

this just made my day. As long as I know it’s coming, I’m happy!

  • Pichi

I’m very excited to hear this!! Thanks again, Spencer!

I wonder how the difficulty will be. Was it too hard or too easy in the Japanese version?

  • Spencer

I pressed on the difficulty question, but the only answer I could get was they’re looking at it. I think jeffx sums up the issue nicely, but I haven’t had time to play World Destruction to formulate my own opinion.

  • wario4ever

Hey spencer have played shining force feather? also does phantasy star zero and shining force feather have a chance of usa date?
also will phantasy star portable, the psp game has a chance of usa release?

  • Pichi

Ah, didn’t read jeffx second paragraph, doh! XD

I hope its more even out then. That’s a nice split for it.

  • Me

From the trailers I checked out, this game looks pretty bangin’. The graphics look rich and clean. Can’t wait if for when this gets released! Like you said though, I highly doubt the game will be released here until probably Late Spring / Early Summer – I think. It was only released in Japan some 2 weeks, wasn’t it?

Hopefully the release date is far away, because trying to cover my Driver’s Ed classes, and buy Disgaea DS, Castlevania OoE, Bleach Dark Souls, plus the release of Chrono Trigger DS is creeping up on us in a month. >:
    Good thing I have a job…

  • Al

Huh, didn’t really see this coming. Even more surprising that Sega themselves are localizing it.
Anyway, great news, thanks for asking about it Spencer.

This is a distater if he change the music to make it appeal to american taste which I don’t like at all, if this becomes a habit then there is no going around it I need to go to take japanese classes.

  • Spencer

About the music it’s not that they’re going to rewrite the entire score. Remember Xenogears and how there were English lyrics to the vocal songs. That’s they’re planning to do.

  • Mazen

Good news about the music, thanks Spencer :)

  • Jay

Fantastic news, I thought they’d skip this one.

  • Neophoton

    Yay. :D

Let’s all start a mini party in joy. Good thing someone asked about this game.

  • Joanna

    yes mini party! BANZAI!
