Yeah I was gonna make a post about how you made a mistake by starting with single player but it seems others have already beat me to it. It's much more fun if you're with 3 other buddies and you're all playing it for the 1st time as no one knows strats or has the upper hand.

Right from the beginning when I read about Dokapon Kingdom for the very first time it immediately reminded me of Hyaku Sekai Monogatari for the NES. The more I read about it, the more it feels like some kind of remake. I'm really looking forward to trying it myself. I only hope it has some nice coop features too besides all the competetive aspects. In the NES game you could join other players' monster battles to help them out, heal them with your magic scrolls, heck, you could even form temporary parties!

I dont see how someone could try to say this is not a party game especially after only trying it with one other person. I have been playing a 4 player game with my buddies and it has so far been the funnest game we have played together. if you have some buddies to play with then this game is defintly worth buying.

too little atlus wii support and with external titles like these, who are low profile at best, we deserve best so I'll definitely be passing this one.

I could be tempted to purchase it if I was seeing upcoming titles from them, and worthy ones at that, but nah. nothing.

I've been playing Dokapon Kingdom every chance I can get since release, and I've had nothing but a blast with it. Three human players in story mode, to be exact. I don't really think the full experience can be had with even two human players and CPUs involved. Truth be told, there IS no "single player mode" nor should there ever be. Mario Party is no fun against nothing but CPU characters, and this game is even less fun against them. You need friends sitting beside you to screw over, not some computer player who won't react to it.

And yes, the majority of the interaction between players is screwing each other over. That's the entire point of this game! And it's what makes it hilariously fun to play. No other party game lets you be this cruel to each other. I don't see how minigames or other kinds of "be nice" interactions would help the game at all. It's pure competition, plain and simple. The fact that you can utterly humiliate each other with name and hairstyle changes is proof enough of that.

The RPG elements were kept purposely light so that anyone could jump into the game and play, even non-RPG players, and the chance aspect fits well with a board game type of experience. To address another one of your complaints: yes, it's annoying when you don't have the exact number of spaces to get where you want to go. But the game DOES have a solution for this: the crystals that allow you to move a specific number of spaces. There's no telling if you'll have the right numbered crystal to get exactly where you want to go, but... that's a board game for you.

I seriously think getting three or four people together to play this game would result in nothing but amusement for everyone, I've been having a ball, personally. There actually is a bit of depth to the game, with job class progression among other things, and there are balances in place to avoid someone stuck in last place for the entire game. I honestly think you may have been put off by trying to take on the notoriously hard computer players instead of enjoying it with friends, which I think is where the game really shines.
