Namco Bandai Is Reviving Everyones Favorite Syllable Shouting Monster Wow, there is a new game in the Wagyan Land series. Every franchise is getting revived these days, seriously. You may not remember Wagyan Land since Namco Bandai, “Namcot” at that time, passed on publishing these games out side of Japan. It’s easy to see why by the trailer. You control a dragon-like creature that spits katakana as a weapon. Some of the games in the series were fan translated and in case you aren’t familiar with the mix of platforming and flash card puzzles here’s a look at them.

Right now Namco Bandai is developing a Wagyan game for the Nintendo DS. This will be the first new Wagyan game in over a decade. Japan is scheduled to get Chibikko Wagyan no Ookina Bouken(The Big Adventure of Kid Wagyan) on January 29. However, this might not be a platformer. A tag line explains the game has fingertip and mind exercises. Namco Bandai lists the genre as “flash action” and there is a multiplayer feature for up to four players. Hmm… is this Wagyan game going to be have more flash card mini-games and less syllable spitting platforming?

I hope it’s a 2.5D platformer instead of silly mini-game collection. I remember playing this when I was in grade school and it was very fun.

The last one Wagyan Paradise on SNES has the best 2d art ever, 14 years passed and when I played it few months ago its still the best.
also the music in that game was so amazing, that game was a big leap for the series.
