Yaris Not Yanked From Xbox Live, It Expired

Yaris Not Yanked From Xbox Live, It Expired As if anyone cared about downloading it now, the Yaris advergame suddenly vanished on Xbox Live. The Xbox page is gone too, possibly sparking fear that Microsoft is chopping the Xbox Live long tail. Yaris wasn’t deleted for low review scores even though it got them. The game simply expired.

That’s right expired. Yaris was a free brand supported advergame “available for download in the U.S. and Canada for one full year” according to a Microsoft press release announcing the game. Yaris came out on October 7, 2007 and today is November 5, 2008. A year flew by and Yaris was past its expiration date.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Yaris in real life.

The Yaris is weird, its instrument panel is centered in the dash… making driving it about as pleasant as playing the advergame.
