Final Fantasy VIII… As A Science Museum Exhibit

By Spencer . November 7, 2008 . 2:05pm

I was digging through my old photos and realized I almost forgot about this little nugget. Final Fantasy VIII was on display in the Hong Kong Science Museum. Aside from teaching kids about anatomy, both physiology and qi flow (very neat!), you can stop in the computer lab to play Final Fantasy VIII. What makes Final Fantasy VIII so special that it’s on display next to educational software? I’m not positive, but it might have to do with the theme song. Faye Wong who sung Eyes On Me is a Hong Kong pop star so there is a connection. It’s either that or someone beguiled the museum staff that the Seed exams were educational. All kids need to remember HP-J is a junction ability.

Well, I have to commend anyone who finished it, seeing what’s written on the monitor (10 minutes if someone is waiting :D)

  • Props for this great and underrated game, getting recognition. ^_^

  • Andrew

    FFVIII is underrated?

  • ChaoofNee

    FFVIII is OVERrated.

    Also, trash.

I didn’t think much of it when it first came out, but a few years later I replayed it and liked it much more. A great game.

Definitely an underrated game. FFVIII is one of the best Final Fantasy games. It has an innovative battle/stat system, a great story, wonderful music, and is extremely well balanced.

It’s a shame that FFIX came after that, and, based purely on nostalgia for the art style, everyone ignored its numerous and crippling shortcomings (load times, battle load times, inability to run, absolutely rote battle system, more on-rails-than-normal story progression), and praised it to the heavens often in the same breath as insulting FFVIII.

I think some crafty kid may have hijacked an actual exhibit.
