This Is The Right Way To Advertise Chrono Trigger For The DS

Square Enix could have flashed a bunch of Chrono Trigger anime clips spliced with some gameplay footage for a TV commercial and Chrono Trigger would have sold just fine. Actually, Square Enix could do next to nothing and Chrono Trigger should do OK because it’s Chrono Trigger. However, Square Enix’s advertising department didn’t lazily slap something together they got creative.

In Japan a commercial is airing where the cast, in sprite form, jump out of a Super Famicom with a Chrono Trigger cart and into a Nintendo DS after Ayla inquires about a curious white object. Will a cute TV ad sell more copies of Chrono Trigger? Maybe not, but it doesn’t hurt to deviate from the usual music video style montages at all.

    absolutely perfect.

Very creative :) CT truly stood the test of time, not many old games make people this excited. Wonder if this classic made by the dream team would outsell even the DQ remakes, then we would finally have Chrono 3.
