Blood Of Bahamut Trailer Spilled, Details Dropped

Square Enix presents a new multi-player RPG for the Nintendo DS and it’s called Blood of Bahamut. The crux of the conflict in the game is man versus giant beasts. Ibuki, the male character in the trailer, is fighting Gigant, a towering castle creature that was once Ibuki’s home. Ibuki and Yui, a woman who also lived on Gigant, set out to tame the enraged giants.

And Gigant is pissed. In the clip Gigant hurls boulders and shoots lasers out of his eyes. Ibuki can dispatch regular monsters with his sword, but Gigant will only fall if you hit weak spots (a la Shadow of the Colossus). Sometimes players will need to break parts of the giant off to reveal a weak point. Gigant won’t be the only giant you’ll fight. He is just one part of the 130+ missions in Blood of Bahamut. Missions are split into story missions and free play, both types can be played cooperatively with up to four people.

Blood of Bahamut doesn’t have a set date in Japan and Square Enix has not announced it for any other regions. However, there is a good sign we’re going to hear a Blood of Bahamut announcement in North America someday.

  • Mikael

    Looks interesting

  • Nekobo

The huge creature looks exactly like something torn out of Shadows of the Colossus.

Looks pretty EPIC for a DS game.

  • Dangalf

Nice! Judging by this trailer, and recent Square Enix development efforts like Last Remnant, it looks like the developer is trying out some new and interesting gameplay systems. All of which makes me more interested and excited for these new games when they come out!

  • jarrod

Visually, it reminds me of FFXIIRW a little. I wonder if it’s from the same team or using the same engine?

  • Lucky

Oh wow. Awesome gameplay, and it looks like a pretty length game (150+ missions o_o). I cannot wait for more information on this game!

  • lostinblue

color me interested on this one.

  • Aoshi00

Epic music. It first reminded me of Shadow of the Colossus too, and whatever happened to Mistwalker’s Cry On, another game w/ gaints.. If this guy has a mountain over its shoulder where people live on, wouldn’t the protagonist be in bacteria size..

  • nika

I was wondering about that too, I mean if they used to LIVE on that thing… they either grew a lot or gigant shrunk. or things are just out of proportion.
