Discover A Professor Layton Anime Movie In 2010

By Spencer . November 26, 2008 . 12:56pm

image Level 5’s trilogy of Professor Layton DS games is about to end. Professor Layton and the Last Time Trip comes out in Japan tomorrow, but Level 5 isn’t shelving the franchise. Now that the games are done Level 5 is moving Professor Layton to the movies… again.

Unlike the live action movie released in last year, Professor Layton The First Movie is an animated film. The movie will have a brand new story and it is slated for release in Japan in January 2010. Famitsu speculates that the title “First Movie” sparks the possibility of a series of Professor Layton movies. Sure, why not? Give him an anime series too. The Professor Layton series is huge in Japan.

Meanwhile other regions are just getting into the Professor Layton series thanks to Nintendo publishing Professor Layton and the Curious Village  in North America, Europe, and even Korea. Nintendo hasn’t said anything about publishing the other Professor Layton games, but if they don’t another publisher probably will.

Didn’t know there’s a live action movie coming out (kind of like Kindaichi or something), but I’m all for an anime one. I love the franchise and can’t wait to play the 3rd and last installment.

One bad point though is the puzzles only follow several patterns w/ increasing difficulty, only the “scenarios” make them feel fresh. The Inazuma anime series is pretty good, so I’m pretty sure they would do a great job w/ Layton.

thats preety neat, i had a feeling that there be an anime/movie based on the game when i saw the trailer for part 3.

I am very pleased with the thought and don’t feel like adding anything in it. It’s a perfect answer.

I was so disappointed that they’d decided to make a live-action movie as opposed to an animated one. Will definitely keep my eyes peeled; I hope a good studio is handling it!

  • If I didn’t know any better, I would have assumed that Professor Layton was based on an anime film.

God I hope this turns out better than that awful Animal Crossing movie. I love Animal Crossing as much as the next guy but that film was a stinking pile.

This action proves to be a win, win situation. This is a true art work, which will be a success story.
