Tenchu 4: Art Of The Port

Tenchu 4: Art Of The Port So Tenchu 4 isn’t a Wii exclusive. Just like a member of the Tenchu 4 staff told us and I almost wrote off as a miscommunication, Tenchu 4 is getting ported to the PSP. From Software will publish it in Japan on February 12. Ubisoft hasn’t said anything about the PSP version since we don’t have Tenchu 4: Art of the Ninja here, but you can bet its coming. If Ubisoft doesn’t take care of it some other publisher will.

I wonder how Acquire will adapt the controls for the PSP port. When I played Tenchu 4 it utilized motion control for finishing blows and dodge rolls. Some of these motoins can easily be replaced with button presses, but Tenchu 4 will lose its visceral feel. The screenshots from a Famitsu scan suggest the X and O buttons are going to be flexible action buttons.

I’m just glad to know it’s being ported TO the PSP and not the other way around.

I was actually more surprised with the Ayakashibito port to the PSP in that scan.

Didn’t know that was getting ported.

well, at least they didn’t tone down the Wii version so it could run on the PSP, only afterwards, or so I hope.

I don’t give a crap bout the “Wii visceral feel” or the Wii itself, for that matter. Tenchu has always been about buttons, so I don’t see much of a problem with the finishing blow mechanics and such.

The first PSP Tenchu left a lot to be desired, so I hope this one delivers the definitive portable Tenchu experience :)

Smart move after the Wii version bombed in Japan. T4 uses multiplatform middleware anyway (Gamebryo iirc), they should squeeze out a PS2 port too if possible.

I’d rather have the button presses than swiping my controller physically. There’s too much room for tiny movement mistakes when using the Wiimote.

This game was built around motion controls and that’s the way I’ll play it, this isn’t like Chocobo Dungeon that could be easily remade for the DS without changing the gameplay.
