Shadow Hearts Lives On As A Slot Machine

image Got an e-mail with “New Shadow Hearts?” as the subject from tipster Fred (thanks!!) and I was revved up. Nautilus dissolved last year, but Aruze still owns the rights to the Shadow Hearts series. Unfortunately, the only new Shadow Hearts project Aruze is working on is Slot Shadow Hearts II, a slot machine with Yuri and US box art cover girl Karin.

Poor Shadow Hearts series, this is what you’ve become…

A trailer for Slot Shadow Hearts II is on the Shadow Hearts hub site just in you need to see a preview video for a slot machine. It’s pretty much comprised of Shadow Hearts II cut scenes so don’t go in expecting to see much. Aruze hasn’t made any games since Shadow Hearts: From the New World and since their main source of revenue comes from slot machines they should hand over the series to someone else. Feelplus would be the best pick since they’re made up of some ex-Nautilus staff.

  • It is still kind of cool

It’s sad but I actually still haven’t finished Covenant (just met up w/ Kurando in Japan). Lost Odyssey was made by ex-Nautilus guys right? I thought LO retained some of the gameplay elements and humor of the Shadow Heart series, sort of a spiritual successor. It’s hard to go back to the PS2 now :(…

Depressing. Shadow Hearts is such a great series, and it’s just ignored.
