Suikoden Joins Sony’s Downloadable PlayStation Classics

suikoden The wait since we discovered the ESRB rating felt like forever, but later today Suikoden will be available for a mere $5.99. Konami and Sony are bringing Suikoden to the US PlayStation Store as a downloadable PS3 / PSP game.

You may not get fancy box art or an instruction manual by downloading Suikoden, but this re-release sure beats the current eBay price, which is floating around $60 for a complete copy.

hot damn. they've got my money. i rented this game way back when, and never finished it. it always stayed in my mind. since 5.99 isn't too far off from a rental price, and certainly better than filthy ebay prices, i don't see any reason to hesitate.

    Wow. Best christmas ever!

Call me when Suikoden II is downloadable.

Suikoden I is like 15 hours long and has a plodding, predictable, boring plot. II has a way more interesting world, better strategy battles, much better characters, and is satisfyingly long.

While Suikoden II was superior in every way, the first one is still highly enjoyable. I really wish that I had good reason to buy a PS3, but if Sony starts to actually tap the true potential of the PlayStation Store, I just may have the reason I've been waiting for.
  • It's very hard to beat the original's unique art style. The in-game portraits have this rough, waterpainted look that you don't often see in found in finished products. Miki Higashino wrote many memories tracks too. And who can forget "Beautiful Golden City" or "Into a World of Illusion"?
  • ugh, I need to learn to proofread...
  • EvilAkito
Why proof read when just hit the submit button is so much easuer?
  • Juan Rodriguez
OMG YES finally I get to play the original Suikoden I can't wait.

When you download it on the PS3 from PSN, you can press the PS button on the controller to access a black and white scanned version of the manual. You get everything but the actual disk and case for $6! Now where's Suikoden 2? :(
